Stow and Hudson, Mass.

They showed up in early September, 2007, in our yard on Barton Road. It was the first rainy day in a long time. There were eight of them - a real flock of turkeys. During the heaviest downpours they would trot over to the pine trees, and stand under them until the rain slackened. Then back to the birdseed.

When they were satisfied, they all walked into the woods behind the house. But they were back the next day - this time there were ten of them!

They started, as before, in the front yard, then walked as a group to the back yard. They were presided over by a large one, which we assume was a male.

Will they continue to come back? We'll watch for them.
